A lost Boone Creek (Ricky Skaggs, Jerry Douglas, Wes Golding, Terry Baucom) recording resurfaces nearly 50 years later. “Georgia Sunrise” is streaming now!
Blending soaring harmonies, slide-guitar warmth, and the easy glow of ’70s soft rock, the track defied the then-accepted boundaries of bluegrass music. Though recorded in for Boone Creek’s 1977 self-titled debut album, “Georgia Sunrise” was not on the final track list. In the years following, the tapes were lost, only to be rediscovered decades later moldy and badly damaged. Through intense restoration efforts, “Georgia Sunrise” was rescued, and the groundbreaking track is finally getting its moment to shine.
A message from Ricky Skaggs:
“It’s been over 50 years since Boone Creek made these recordings and it’s great to hear them remastered. They sound better than ever, and I never thought the previously unreleased cuts would see the light of day. A big thanks to my bandmate, brother Jerry Douglas, for assisting in the remastering process—great job!”
